Alan 'the bass' Hunt

As founder member of the band, Al’s seen members come and go, but has insisted that the band remains faithful to its roots. One talent too few people know about is his yet to be discovered ability for writing song lyrics…more to follow (maybe!) Never a victim of fashion, Al appears at best casual and at worst…worse. Although the same age as the ever-youthful drummer (guess who wrote this?), Al’s lived-in, tortured appearance from obsessive, mindless jumping, acts as a double-edged sword: both adding years to his features whilst attracting an ever-increasing number of the more mature female fans.

Unusual factoid: Despite being the Pavarotti of the bass guitar – Alan can’t sing a note!

Simon Jones

Lead/harmony vocalist Simon is most unusually the front man of the outfit, whilst playing drums. Never one to shun the limelight, you’ll often find that the stage spotlights are focussed just above the drums (& who positions them?) “Playing in this band keeps me ever-youthful,” he says, “but the toil of having the ‘distinguishing’ and authentic- looking grey hairs is becoming a chore.” Originally from the beer town of Burton on Trent, Simon’s fought off the inevitability of picking up the local dialect of North Devon, home of The Splits. However, as he often says ‘I love Devon; I know where I’m to!’

Unusual factoid: Simon’s suffers from the terrible, debilitating, terminal illness of always being right.

Cory 'the bird' McChickenDoughnut

New boy (wonder) of the band, Cory joined in 2007 and he’s been holding his own (please?) ever since. From the same stable that gave you Daniel Simon, Cory brings an added dimension to the outfit with his dry humour and wet look. With the recently discovered ability to write sweet, sweet music, he needs to get together with Al’s lyrics and make us a fortune! The addition of a full driving licence and car has slowed his obsessive impulse-buying of guitars and equipment. Cory’s best known for his slow hand style both whilst playing and unfortunately when asked to carry the band gear.

Unusual factoid: Too unusual to mention.

Daniel 'eye candy' Simon

Daniel took up the reigns of lead/rhythm guitarist in 2003. His talents soon included harmony/lead vocals and ‘musical director’ (he asked me to put that in). Daniel’s love of harmony vocals and songs from the early 60s made him ideal for the job (and he could strum a few chords!). A modest lad (!), Dan’s skills include live sound tech and totally over-the-top showing-off (sorry!), which adds a greater visual impact to the show. Dan’s currently studying at Performers’ College in Essex, where he was offered a scholarship for his singing, dancing and acting abilities (big ’ead), but often returns to his 4th love - slumming it with the band!

Unusual factoids: Daniel's Dad plays in a rock’n’roll band and his Mum is a much sought-after sound(lady) technician!
